Comox Valley Training April 11-12

Organize BC trainings introduce participants to community organizing and provide them with a foundation in narrative, strategy, and team and relationship building. As a participant, you can expect to walk away with a deeper understanding of what it means to be an organizer in your community.

The foundational skills and theory behind our organizing model, the engagement organizing model, was designed by Marshall Ganz, a veteran of the United Farm Workers movement, Harvard professor and training architect behind Barack Obama's winning 2008 and 2012 organizing strategies.

You will learn:
  • How to tell your story to mobilize others to take action

  • How to recruit and retain volunteers and build strong teams

  • How to devise an effective strategy

  • How to select tactics that align with your strategic goals

The training is taking place in Courtenay, BC, at North Island College in Tyee Hall Room 203.  The training is on April 11 and 12, 2015 from 9:30am to 5:00pm each day.  We will provide coffee and tea on both days.  Please bring a lunch for yourself.  If anyone is able to bring snacks for the training to share with everyone, we'd really appreciate it!

We'd like all training participants to coordinate with one of the event organizers, prior to attending.  Interested attendees should checkin with this training's recruitment coordinator: Dave Mills, Provincial Organizer at Dogwood Initiative at [email protected]
